Aero Vodochody to deepen partnership with Embraer

Aero Vodochody produces parts of the Embraer C-390 military transport aircraft.
At the beginning of June, representatives of Aero Vodochody and the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer signed a memorandum on the basis of which the existing cooperation and joint development will continue to a greater extent. Since 2016, Aero has been producing parts of the Embraer C-390 military transport aircraft.
Aero manufactures the fixed leading edge of the wing, all doors, the cargo ramp and a part of the C-390’s fuselage. According to Aero president and CEO Viktor Sotona, the Czech aerospace industry has a large stake in the commercial success of the machine, which has so far been selected by Hungary and Portugal in addition to Brazil.
The C-390 Millennium and its mid-air refuelling configuration, the KC-390, represent a new generation of multi-purpose military transport aircraft. The aircraft can carry up to 26 tons of cargo (up to 7 standardized military pallets), placing it in the medium-size category. Brazil took delivery of its first machine in 2019.
Aero Vodochody changed hands last year. It is now owned by HSC Aerojet, with Hungarian financier Szalay-Bobrovniczky a majority owner. A smaller stake is owned by the Czech group Omnipol.
