Bratislava orders ten more bidirectional trams from Skoda

The trams are scheduled for delivery in 2024.
The Public Transport Company Bratislava (DPB) has signed its second contract with Skoda Transportation Group for the delivery of trams this year. This order is for ten Skoda ForCity Plus 30T bidirectional vehicles. The value of the contract is EUR 26.5 million. Delivery of the trams is scheduled for 2024.
The trams will have the Bratislava one metre gauge and will be equipped with Wi-Fi, USB sockets or a camera system. The total capacity is 242 passengers, 52 seats, max speed is 65 km/h. The head of DPB stated that new bidirectional trams are necessary in order to carry out further reconstruction of radial tram lines in the city.
Skoda trams have been running in Bratislava for several years. The transport company ordered the first vehicles in July 2013, with deliveries taking place in 2015 and 2016. The total number of vehicles was 60, of which 30 are unidirectional (29T) and 30 are bidirectional (30T).
In March this year, DPB signed a contract for up to 30 more Skoda ForCity Plus 29T unidirectional trams. The value of the entire contract could reach EUR 71.7 million if the entire framework contract is filled. In total, there could be up to 100 Skoda trams in Bratislava.
