The acquisition will expand the ČD class 841 fleet to 67 units.

In addition to its own 34 RS1 units, České dráhy purchased 22 used units from Germany at the end of 2020. Now the transport company is buying eleven first-generation railcars, manufactured by Adtranz, from the Swiss company Heros Helvetic Rolling Stock GmbH.

České dráhy will pay EUR 12.995 million for the eleven vehicles. The carrier has not disclosed the vehicles’ previous place of operation, one option being the German company SWEG from which ČD acquired the 22 cars in 2020. ČD purchased the vehicles without a tender in a negotiated procedure without prior publication.

The Stadler RS1 railcars are slowly becoming the core of ČD’s fleet of regional trains. With the new purchase, their number will have grown to 67. České dráhy intends to use the ETCS-ready cars to replace class 814 units.
