Despite an ongoing framework contract with Pesa, ČD is launching new market consultations.

Barely two years after signing a major framework agreement with PESA Bydgoszcz for the delivery of up to 160 DMU120s, České dráhy has decided to conduct preliminary market consultations for other vehicles of a similar type. The aim is to define the functional and technical requirements as well as the corresponding budget and time frame for the subsequent purchase.

The company plans to purchase up to 96 new units. Alstom, CAF, ŽOS Vrútky, Newag, PESA Bydgoszcz, Siemens Mobility, Stadler Rail, and Škoda Transportation have been approached for preliminary market consultations. České dráhy will conduct research and market engagement in the field and later plan to tender for a manufacturer.

According to the conditions, the units equipped with ETCS should be designed for at least 110 passengers in first and second class. They are intended primarily for regional passenger trains. The units are to stop on average every four kilometers.
