Czech locomotive producer CZ Loko keeps expanding export business. The newest customer is Italian rail freight operator Rail Traction Company (RTC) that specializes to freight transport through the Brenner Pass.
RTC ordered two diesel locomotives EffiShunter 1000, the agreement includes option for additional two engines. The company plans to use them both for shunting and hauling the freight trains. “The agreement conditions are demanding and we are happy, that our locomotives were selected,” CZ Loko business director Jaroslav Plhák said. The delivery is planned for second half of 2019. The customer is not new for CZ Loko as it already uses diesel locomotives of class D.753 (the googgles). This is not the only Italian customer for the Czech company, Mercitalia Shunting & Terminal from Italian State Railway also uses engines from CZ Loko.
The other customer for Česká Třebová plant comes from Hungary. Rail freight operator Magyar Vasúti Áruszállító (MVÁ) ordered diesel-electric locomotive EffiShunter 1600. This is second Hungarian customer after CER Hungary. MVÁ operates throughout the Europe, delivers goods to European maritime harbours and container terminals.
“Base of our export success is competitive product complemented by services and interesting price. We offer both. That makes us the stronger player on the shunting locomotive market,” Plhák adds. He pointed out that CZ Loko attracted interest at Innotrans. The company presented its 1000th producted locomotive at Berlin rail fair. The modern history is counted since 2004 when Zeppelin became the strategic partner. The thousandth locomotive was EffiShunter 1000 for Mercitalia.
