The contract is for 10 years, with contract value over CZK 1.3 billion.

Czech Railways announced a new tender for a ten-year DMU 140 units lease. The estimated contract value is CZK 1.328 billion. The carrier wants to use the units in the Central Bohemia Region. This year, Czech Railways already tendered for a DMU 140 units supplier for five years; there were no bidders.

CD is now looking for 21 operational semi-low-floor units with a capacity of at least 135 seats. Each unit will travel 120–146 thousand kilometers per year. The lease would allow Ceske drahy to bridge the time until the tender and delivery of new hybrid units.

There is yet another reason this may be a commercially interesting tender for CD. In case of a ten-year lease, the Central Bohemian Region plans to extend the contract until 2033. The current contract expires in 2029.
