Delta Air Lines has resumed regular service between Prague and New York’s JFK Airport. The American airline will offer daily flights. After a winter break, the Czech Republic will thus once again have a direct connection to the United States. The airline will use a Boeing 767 on the route, with flights scheduled until October.
CEETransport.com has received information that the interest in this connection is very high and the first flights are practically sold out. Ticket prices for the summer vacations and early dates are in line with demand, but for September the cheapest round-trip ticket for one person costs EUR 577 on average.
After a more than two-year hiatus caused by the global pandemic, the route recorded unexpectedly good results last year. The average load factor was 97 percent. Before the pandemic, more than 70,000 passengers flew between Prague and New York each year, according to Prague Airport. New York has long been one of the most popular long-haul destinations in the Czech Republic.
An exciting day at Prague Airport
Ruzyně Airport also welcomed Lufthansa’s Airbus A380 twice in the day as the airline continued its series of training flights in preparation for the four-engine aircraft’s return to regular passenger service. Qatar Airways exceptionally used a wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a flight from Doha. The airport’s management is in intensive negotiations with the airline regarding the transition from the current Airbus A320 to a larger aircraft.
