DPP announces tender for new Petřín funicular cars, price estimated at 6 million euro

The new cars should be ready in spring 2025 at the latest.
The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) has announced a tender for the supply of two new cars for the Petřín funicular. The cars will be manufactured according to the design of Anna Marešová Designers, who won last year’s design competition.
The capacity of each car must be at least 100 passengers plus attendants. The DPP requires a service life of at least 25 years. The estimated price of the cars is EUR 6.4 million, and the transport company expects to announce the winner of the tender and sign the contract in the second quarter of this year.
The winner will be able to start production of the vehicles only after the Rail Authority has approved the documentation. The manufacturer and the design studio will cooperate to prepare the production documentation.
The car cabins must be adapted to the dimensions of both stations of the Petřín funicular. The length of the cars in the horizontal plane must not exceed 1230 cm, the inclination of the cars 250 ‰, and the width of the cabin 245 cm. The car body will be divided into four separate compartments for passengers.
