The construction of the new station could begin in 2028.

Benthem Crouwel International, the winner of an international architectural competition for the design of Brno’s new main station, has been awarded another contract. The railway infrastructure manager Správa železnic commissioned preparatory work on one of the largest planned transport investments in the Czech Republic.

The Dutch company has this week signed a contract with Správa železnic for the architectural study of Brno Main Station. It is worth EUR 2.4 million. The agreement includes an anonymized timetable for individual parts of the study. Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic, tweeted that the study should be ready by the end of next year.

Per contract stipulations, the estimated cost of the new station must not exceed EUR 547 million. The building will be a part of the Brno railway hub transformation, with an estimated total of around EUR 2 billion.

This is the second contract related to the Brno railway station for the Dutch company. In the first half of the year, the city of Brno and Benthem Crouwel International signed a CZK 31 million contract for a study of the modifications to the adjacent public space.
