Eurovia wins contract for Kosice beltway, to build 14 km in three years

It will bring relief to Kosice especially from trucks.
Eurovia SK and Eurovia CS have won a major road contract in Slovakia. The 14.3 km long stretch of the R2 Kosice expressway between Saca and Kosicke Olsany, which is the south-eastern beltway of Slovakia’s second largest city, will be built for EUR 132.6 million.
The contract has been filed in the Central Register of Contracts and Eurovia now has 30 days to take over the construction. The tender itself dragged on for four years, being significantly delayed by proceedings at the Public Procurement Office which canceled the entire tender due to a problem with the contract terms. Because of the tender, Slovakia changed part of its public procurement law.

The construction will take three years and will be financed by European subsidies. It will connect the D1 motorway with the R4 expressway and will be part of the Via Carpathia transnational highway. It will bring relief to Kosice especially from trucks; around 50,000 cars a day pass through the Kosice inner beltway now.
