The minister advised people to continue wearing a mask when in areas with unfamiliar people.

For the first time since autumn 2020, it will be legal to travel on Czech public transport without a respirator or nano-mask. Health Minister Vlastimil Valek announced on Sunday that the mask mandate will be lifted from Thursday, April 14. The measure has been ignored by many people for several weeks, especially after the rules were relaxed in other enclosed spaces.

The mask mandate was introduced in the first wave of the pandemic in spring 2020 and lifted over the summer. From September 1, 2020 the mandate was reintroduced. Wearing or not wearing masks had been the cause of some conflicts on public transport, and recently many people, especially on trains, no longer observed the measure. In public transport its respect was higher.
