The Skoda 40Ts are important especially during closures and operational emergencies.

The Pilsen City Transport Company (PMDP) will make full use of the framework contract with Skoda Transportation for the delivery of bidirectional Skoda 40T (ForCity Smart) trams from 2018. Currently, the company has signed an option for the last ten vehicles.

The first two of these trams have been running in Plzen since last year, and the first option for another ten vehicles was exercised by the carrier last autumn. The company has now confirmed that it has exercised the option for the remaining ten vehicles but did not specify delivery dates. The purchase of ten more trams will cost the carrier CZK 680 million.

According to the Pilsen City Transport Company (PMDP), the new trams have proved their worth in operation. Thanks to their bidirectionality, the Skoda 40Ts are important especially during closures and operational emergencies. The double-articulated trams are 100% low-floor and air-conditioned. They are 29 meters long and can accommodate 185 passengers, 64 of whom seated.
