Preliminary market consultations to specify conditions of forthcoming tender.
Ostrava public transport company (DPO) launched preliminary market consultations which should result in acquiring up to 25 new high-capacity trams. No detailed data have been provided on the new trams yet; the carrier stated it needs to modernize the fleet.
The preliminary market consultations are intended to verify the suitability of technical parameters under consideration and other terms and conditions of the forthcoming tender. Interested parties have until next week to register for the consultations.
According to the Ceskoslovensky dopravak website, the trams should replace mainly KT8D5R.N1 cars; Ostrava has 16 of these. The vehicles were delivered in 1989 and were added to the fleet successively at the beginning of 1990. The last purchase of new trams in Ostrava were 39Ts from Skoda Transportation.
