The new locomotives will help the company with further expansion.

Central Europe’s largest private passenger rail carrier took delivery of three new TRAXX MS3 multi-system locomotives from Alstom. They will be deployed on long-distance passenger trains and freight services.

RegioJet has 22 TRAXX locomotives in its fleet now, including eighteen of the latest generation MS3. The company sees the locomotives’ lower energy consumption as an advantage. Within 24 months, the RegioJet fleet should be expanded by another twelve TRAXX MS3 vehicles, as contracted in 2019.

The large purchase of TRAXX MS3 means the phasing out of Siemens Vectron locomotives leased to RegioJet. The locomotives are adapted for operation in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, and Hungary. These countries represent the core of RegioJet’s activities in both passenger and freight rail transport.

Further expansion is being considered for Slovenia, Croatia, and Romania. All three new locomotives are registered in Austria, but the company has not specified the reasons.
