RegioJet to launch direct rail connection from Brno to Vienna Airport twice daily

For the time being, the carrier will offer two trains from Brno directly to the airport.
Starting June 16, Brno will have the first regular direct train connection to Vienna Airport station. It will be operated by RegioJet, which will extend two trains a day to the airport, as confirmed by Tereza Ptackova, RegioJet International Projects Manager, for CEETransport.com.
The airport will be served by trains that previously terminated at Vienna Central Station. Trains no. 1033 and 1037 (departing Brno at 11.48 a.m. and 6.48 p.m.) will terminate at Vienna Airport station. Train no. 1034 will depart from Vienna Airport station in the opposite direction.
The carrier has not yet published timetables, tickets are to go on sale tomorrow. Until now, RegioJet has been running buses to the airport. RegioJet will operate the route to the airport without any subsidies at its own risk.
Brno and the South Moravian Region want to introduce direct trains with subsidies; a test run has already taken place. Today, Brno city councilors approved the intention to provide direct train connections starting this December.
