Skoda starts testing new trolleybus for Budapest

The Hungarian capital will receive thirty-six articulated 18-meter and twelve 12-meter trolleybuses.
In Plzen, Skoda started testing the first trolleybus of the new series for Budapest. The vehicle will run a total of 200 kilometers during the tests.
Budapest ordered 48 trolleybuses from the Solaris/Skoda consortium last year, making use of a framework contract from 2014. Sixty vehicles were delivered to the Hungarian capital in the past based on this contract.
Under the new order, Budapest will receive thirty-six articulated 18-meter and twelve 12-meter trolleybuses. These are hybrid vehicles, the batteries are recharged while running on the trolley wire. The vehicles will include a camera system and a passenger weighing system that also indicates the number of passengers.
Skoda trolleybuses also operate in Szeged and Debrecen.
