The Austrian Chancellor will visit three African countries.

The Austrian government contracted Smartwings to carry Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s delegation on their trip to Africa. The Czech airline’s unique job is apparent from photos on the Chancellor’s social media accounts, and the use of a Smartwings aircraft was confirmed by the airline’s spokeswoman.

“We are pleased that the Austrian government delegation led by Chancellor Karl Nehammer and his ministers used Smartwings’ services for their trip to Africa,” said Smartwings spokeswoman Vladimíra Dufková.

Smartwings is using a Boeing 737-800 with the registration OK-TVV for the trip. It took off yesterday from Vienna to Djerba and then embarked on the more than six-hour flight to the Angolan capital of Luanda. Its journey can be followed on Flightradar24.com.

The Chancellor will also visit Ghana and Egypt. The Austrian government has chartered the plane until April 27.
