Smartwings summer passenger numbers back to pre-pandemic levels

The airline did not have to cancel any flights this year.
Smartwings has seen a 120% increase in passenger numbers in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year. During the summer season, the airline has managed to approach the pre-pandemic figures.
According to a report released today, the company carried 4.6 million passengers, compared to 2.1 million in the same period in 2021. While the number of passengers increased by 120%, the number of flights increased by 92% to 29,000. In addition to the Czech Republic, the company had bases in seven countries during the summer.
Nearly three million passengers (+100.6%) used Smartwings services in the busiest summer months (June-August 2022), and the company reached 97% of its 2019 figures. The busiest summer month was July, when Smartwings carried over 1.1 million passengers on 6,500 flights. Occupancy on scheduled flights reached 95% during the summer months. Growth continued in September, when the airline operated 5,111 flights carrying 750,000 passengers. This is an increase of 76.2% compared to the previous year.
During the winter, Smartwings will continue to operate scheduled and charter flights from its international bases in Bratislava, Warsaw, Katowice, Budapest, Paris, and the Canary Islands.
