SOR receives first foreign order for trolleybuses, to be delivered to Szeged

Cegelec will supply the equipment.
SOR Libchavy will deliver up to six new SOR TNS 12 hybrid trolleybuses to the Hungarian city of Szeged. The equipment will come from the Prague-based company Cegelec. This is the first export contract for trolleybuses for SOR.
The companies announced the award of the contract worth CZK 70 million in a joint press release. There were two participants in the tender opened in February 2022; besides price, the evaluation criteria included length of warranty, vehicle availability, range on traction batteries and other technical criteria.
Szeged is one of only three cities in Hungary where trolleybuses are in use; they complement the tram line network. The battery-powered trolleybuses are also intended to replace diesel buses. The basic contract expects the delivery of four vehicles, while the carrier can add two more as an option.
