Sprava zeleznic looks for designers to modernize Nymburk – Lysa nad Labem section

Speed will be increased to 160 km/h.

The rail infrastructure manager has launched one of the biggest design tenders this year. In a competition with an estimated price of CZK 116 million, Sprava zeleznic is looking for designers to optimize the line between Nymburk and Lysa nad Labem. The project involves a comprehensive reconstruction and the addition of a third track.

Sprava zeleznic has a 2025 start date but the project is running late. It is a busy section for freight transport, the line is widely used for transport between the Czech Republic and Germany. The project was designed by Sudop Prague, Sudop EU, NDcon and Mott MacDonald.

The reconstruction will also bring an increase in speed from 120 to 160 km/h, and several level crossings will be closed down. The 19.75 kilometers long section will be equipped with ETCS signaling, with plans to switch it to AC.
