The construction of a roughly 20-kilometer section from Sevetin to the Nemanice district of Ceske Budejovice will complete the entire modernisation of Corridor 4.

The original single-track line through Hluboka nad Vltavou, which ends Corridor 4 near Ceske Budejovice today, will disappear. Its deep profile will be used to permanently store material extracted from two tunnels on the new line.

This follows from the material in which the Ministry of Transport is currently asking the government for approval to examine the financing of the new line by PPP. New information concerns the removal of the old line in the Hluboka nad Vltavou-Zamosti – Nemanice section, where the intention so far was to preserve the line at least in the form of a siding, mainly for the purpose of timber transportation. This is foreseen in the approved EIA documentation.

The construction of a roughly 20-kilometer section from Sevetin to the Nemanice district of Ceske Budejovice will complete the entire modernisation of Corridor 4. The plans also include the construction of two long tunnels: the 4,775-meter-long Chotycansky and 3,120-meter-long Hosinsky tunnels. As the estimated costs have already reached CZK 25 billion (cca 1 billion EUR), the Ministry of Transport and the rail infrastructure manager Sprava zeleznic want to examine the use of private capital within a PPP project.

According to government material, the new section of Corridor 4 is to be built between June 2023 and March 2031. There will also be construction modifications to the technological parts of the station buildings. In some stations it will be necessary to install signaling and communication equipment and high current technologies in the reconstructed premises.
