Modernization to begin this year.

AFRY CZ presented the new design of the Chrastava and Hradek nad Nisou stations on the L7 Liberec–Varnsdorf line. Beginning this year, part of the line is to be modernized at a cost of more than CZK 1 billion.

The estimated costs are CZK 604 million for the modernization of Chrastava and CZK 407 million for Hradek nad Nisou. The rail infrastructure manager Sprava zeleznic expects the construction to reduce station operating intervals, ensure railway safety and reliability and increase passenger comfort. AFRY CZ is currently finalizing the project documentation.

Both stations will undergo extensive refurbishment. Inadequate operational equipment and buildings will be replaced or repaired, and a new regional control center will be built in Liberec, with the entire line to be controled from there. The construction includes ETCS preparation, with connection projected for 2033.
