The rights to purchase additional aircraft were part of an order for 102 airplanes placed last year.

Wizz Air plans to exercise an option to buy 75 Airbus A321neo aircraft granted by the European manufacturer last year. The decision is part of the airline’s plan to expand its fleet to 500 aircraft by 2030. “We remain on track to become a 500-aircraft airline group by the end of the decade,” said CEO Jozsef Varadi.

Last November, the Hungarian low-cost airline agreed to purchase 102 Airbus A321 aircraft. The deal included 75 A321neo and 27 A321XLR aircraft, to be delivered between 2025 and 2027. Airbus has granted Wizz Air the right to purchase a further 75 A321neo aircraft.

The delivery dates of the new aircraft are subject to agreement between the two parties. The transaction also requires Wizz Air shareholder approval. The airline currently operates 165 aircraft.
